GSA issued a Record of Decision on October 18, 2024, selecting Alternative 1 (Expansion and Modernization in Place) for the Alcan Land Port of Entry in Alcan, Alaska. The project replaces existing LPOE facilities with a new Main LPOE Building, enclosed inspection vehicle spaces, new housing units, an indoor firing range, and a helicopter landing zone, with roughly 15 acres of temporary and 5 acres of permanent ground disturbance. GSA will need authorization to use up to 6.5 acres within Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge for the helicopter landing zone. The Native Village of Northway served as cooperating agency. Construction follows a six-year phased timeline.12
