The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has received an application from Alliant Energy (Interstate Power and Light Company and Wisconsin Power and Light Company) for a 30-year incidental take permit covering eight wind facilities in Iowa and one in Minnesota. The permit would authorize take of four bat species: Indiana bat, northern long-eared bat, tricolored bat, and little brown bat. Alliant's proposed Habitat Conservation Plan includes turbine feathering measures and maternity colony habitat conservation to minimize and offset impacts. A draft Environmental Assessment analyzing three alternatives is open for public comment through August 15, 2024.1
