The Bureau of Land Management announces availability of the Final Supplemental EIS for the Ambler Road project, a proposed industrial road right-of-way across federal public lands in north-central Alaska. The supplemental review was required after a federal court granted a voluntary remand of the July 2020 Joint Record of Decision due to deficiencies in ANILCA Section 810 subsistence analysis and NHPA tribal consultation. The Final Supplemental EIS evaluates four alternatives, including No Action (the BLM preferred alternative) and three road alignments of 211 to 332 miles. The applicant is the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority. A ROD will issue no earlier than 30 days after EPA publishes its notice.
