The NRC issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for exemptions requested by Entergy Operations, Inc. for Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO), Units 1 and 2, in Pope County, Arkansas. The exemptions allow Entergy to withdraw up to $20 million per unit from the ANO nuclear decommissioning trust funds to dispose of retired major radioactive components (two steam generators and one reactor vessel closure head from Unit 1, and two steam generators from Unit 2) while the plant remains in operation. The NRC concluded the action involves only financial regulatory requirements, introduces no new operational activities, and has no significant radiological or non-radiological environmental impacts.12
