The Department of the Navy, with the U.S. Coast Guard as a co-proponent and NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service as cooperating agency, has released a Draft Supplemental EIS/Overseas EIS for Atlantic Fleet Training and Testing activities. The document evaluates impacts of Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard training and testing, including active sonar and explosives use, across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and adjacent inland waterways. Three alternatives (two action alternatives and No Action) are analyzed. Resources evaluated include marine mammals, sea turtles, fish, birds, marine habitats, and water quality. A 60-day comment period runs through November 21, 2024, with five public meetings scheduled.1
