FERC staff has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Black Bayou Gas Storage Project, proposed by Black Bayou Gas Storage, LLC (Docket No. CP24-494-000). The project would construct and operate four underground salt dome natural gas storage caverns with approximately 34.7 Bcf of working capacity in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes, Louisiana, along with a 44,000-hp compressor station, a brine leaching plant, freshwater and saltwater disposal wells, and two 27.1-mile looped 24-inch bi-directional header pipelines. FERC staff concludes the project would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment. Comments are due May 19, 2025.12
