The NRC issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a proposed license amendment to Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, operated by Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, in Will County, Illinois. The amendment revises Technical Specification SR 3.7.9.2 to allow the ultimate heat sink (UHS) average water temperature to reach up to 102.8 degrees F through September 30, 2024, up from the normal limit of 102 degrees F. The NRC evaluated potential aquatic impacts in the 2,540-acre cooling pond and concluded the incremental temperature increase would not result in significant environmental effects, consistent with identical amendments granted in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.12
