The USDA Forest Service is preparing an EIS for the Brian Head Resort Expansion on the Dixie National Forest in Iron County, Utah. Applicant Brian Head Resort Recreation 1, LLC submitted a proposal under its 2023 Master Development Plan seeking an expanded special use permit to add lifts, ski trails, snowmaking, on-mountain facilities, utilities, and administrative roads. The EIS will analyze impacts to water resources, dark skies at Cedar Breaks National Monument, cultural resources, scenic integrity, wildlife habitat, Highway 143 traffic, and Iron County socioeconomics. The National Park Service/CBNM is a cooperating agency. Scoping comments are due August 29, 2025, and the final EIS is expected approximately two years after this notice.12
