The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a Record of Decision and Subsequent Renewed Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-33, DPR-52, and DPR-68 to Tennessee Valley Authority for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2, and 3, a three-unit boiling water reactor site in Athens, Alabama. The licenses authorize continued operation at up to 3,952 megawatts thermal per unit. The ROD is supported by a final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 21, Second Renewal), which concluded that adverse environmental impacts of subsequent license renewal are not so great as to make preserving that option unreasonable for energy planning decision-makers.12
