DOE's Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations issued this Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS (DOE/EIS-0570) for the California Hydrogen Hub, a suite of approximately 35 demonstration projects proposed by ARCHES across California. The proposed action is DOE financial assistance to support clean hydrogen production (targeting 450 to 500 metric tonnes per day from renewable electricity and biogenic sources), connective infrastructure, and diverse end uses including fuel-cell trucks, buses, marine vessels, and power generation. The EIS will analyze four alternatives including no action, an expanded hub, and a reduced hub. The scoping period runs through March 3, 2025, with a draft EIS expected in October 2025 and a final EIS in April 2026.1
