BOEM announces availability of the draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for California Offshore Wind, covering five floating offshore wind lease areas totaling approximately 373,000 acres offshore Northern and Central California (Humboldt Bay and Morro Bay). The Proposed Action is BOEM's adoption of program-level mitigation measures to reduce or avoid biological, socioeconomic, physical, and cultural impacts of commercial-scale offshore wind development. Three alternatives are analyzed, including No Action. The PEIS itself will not approve any construction; future construction and operations plans will require separate site-specific NEPA review. A 90-day public comment period opens February 12, 2025.12
