The NRC issued Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-62 to Constellation Energy Generation, LLC for Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, a boiling water reactor in DeWitt County, Illinois, on December 16, 2025. The renewed license authorizes operation at up to 3,473 megawatts thermal. The NRC also issued a Record of Decision on the same date, supported by a final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 63, August 2025), which found that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal are not so great that preserving the renewal option for energy-planning decisionmakers would be unreasonable.

The NRC has issued a final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 63) evaluating the environmental impacts of renewing Facility Operating License No. NPF-62 for Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, owned by Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, for an additional 20 years of operation. CPS is located in DeWitt County, approximately six miles east of Clinton, Illinois. The NRC staff concluded that adverse environmental impacts of license renewal are not so great that preserving the option of license renewal for energy-planning decision-makers would be unreasonable. Alternatives analyzed include the no-action alternative and reasonable replacement power alternatives.
