The Bureau of Land Management announces the availability of Records of Decision approving revised Resource Management Plans for the Colorado River Valley Field Office and Grand Junction Field Office in western Colorado, effective October 16, 2024. The RODs were prepared via a supplemental EIS responding to two federal court orders concerning deficiencies in the 2015 RMPs. The approved RMPs (Alternative G) govern roughly 1.585 million acres of BLM surface and 1.947 million acres of federal fluid mineral estate across Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Pitkin, Routt, Montrose, and Rio Blanco Counties. Key decisions include new leasing closures for low and no-known oil and gas potential areas, expanded ACEC and wilderness characteristics protections, and retention of existing fluid mineral stipulations.12
