The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has announced its intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the New York Power Authority's application to relicense the 11.8-megawatt Crescent Hydroelectric Project (No. 4678) on the Mohawk River in Saratoga, Albany, and Schenectady Counties, New York. FERC staff concluded, based on the record including comments on the March 2024 Ready for Environmental Analysis notice, that relicensing would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment, making an EA rather than a full EIS appropriate. The EA is targeted for issuance in April 2026 with a 30-day public comment period to follow.12
