This Federal Register notice announces that FERC has accepted a preliminary permit application filed by Desert Bloom Energy Storage, LLC on March 11, 2025, for the Desert Bloom Energy Storage Project, a proposed pumped-storage hydroelectric facility near Las Vegas in Clark County, Nevada. The project would occupy federal BLM land and consist of two 4,900-acre-foot reservoirs, an underground powerhouse with two reversible 225-megawatt Francis-type pump/turbines, and a 3.5-mile 132-kilovolt transmission line, for a total estimated annual generation of 1,170,000 megawatt-hours. The preliminary permit, if issued, grants only priority to file a license application; no land disturbance is authorized. Comments and competing applications are due by November 21, 2025.12
