The NRC has completed an Environmental Assessment and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact for Pacific Gas and Electric Company's request to renew SNM License No. SNM-2511 for the Diablo Canyon Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation in San Luis Obispo County, California. The proposed 40-year renewal would allow PG&E to continue dry cask storage of spent nuclear fuel from Diablo Canyon Power Plant Units 1 and 2 using the Holtec HI-STORM 100 system, with no new construction or ISFSI footprint expansion. The NRC found no significant radiological or non-radiological impacts from continued operations, no adverse effects on historic properties, and only discountable effects on the California red-legged frog and California condor. An EIS is not required.1
