The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a generic Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for a proposed multi-site service provider license to DISA Technologies, Inc. to operate its high-pressure slurry ablation technology at abandoned uranium mine waste sites across 14 western states and the Navajo Nation. DISA's process separates uranium and thorium fines from mine waste rock; coarse material is returned to the site and fines are sent to licensed facilities. The NRC found no significant impacts provided site conditions match the generic EA assumptions, with site-specific review required via a premobilization notification 90 days before each mobilization.12
