NNSA has issued a Notice of Intent to prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DOE/EIS-0547-S1) for Enhanced Plutonium Facility Utilization at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California. The proposed action would upgrade the LLNL Plutonium Facility from Security Category III to Category II operational levels, increasing fissile material quantities, adding infrastructure construction, and expanding materials shipments and waste generation. The SEIS tiers from the 2023 LLNL Site-Wide EIS and analyzes the proposed action against a No Action alternative (continuing present CAT III operations). The public scoping comment period closes February 12, 2025, and a Draft SEIS is expected by end of summer 2025.12
