The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment for the relicense of the 1.65-megawatt French Landing Hydroelectric Project (No. 9951), located on the Huron River in Wayne County, Michigan. STS Hydropower, LLC and the Charter Township of Van Buren filed the relicense application on April 29, 2025. Staff determined the project does not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment, so an EA rather than an EIS will be prepared. The EA is targeted for issuance on December 8, 2026, with a 30-day public comment period to follow.123
