GSA's Public Buildings Service issued a Record of Decision selecting the Proposed Action for the Grand Portage Land Port of Entry Modernization and Expansion Project in Grand Portage, Minnesota, on the Grand Portage Reservation of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The selected alternative replaces the existing 5.7-acre facility with a modernized port on an approximately 10.4-acre footprint, adds utility upgrades and renewable energy systems, and constructs a 7.3-mile buried power line along Highway 61. GSA determined the Proposed Action best meets CBP operational requirements while producing the fewest substantial adverse environmental consequences. Section 106 consultation with the tribal THPO on historic properties remains ongoing.12
