The Bureau of Land Management and the USDA Forest Service have released a proposed Resource Management Plan amendment and final Environmental Impact Statement for the Greenlink North Transmission Project, a 235-mile high-voltage electric transmission system (up to 525-kV) proposed by NV Energy across White Pine, Eureka, Lander, Churchill, and Lyon counties, Nevada. The project requires BLM right-of-way grants and a Forest Service Special Use Permit covering roughly 83,400 acres of federal lands, and requires amending three existing RMPs to allow a 198-mile utility corridor up to 3,500 feet wide through greater sage-grouse habitat. The preferred alternative co-locates the line with existing transmission infrastructure. A 30-day BLM protest period and a 45-day Forest Service objection period begin upon EPA publication of its NOA.12
