The Bureau of Land Management announces the Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan Amendment for the Gunnison Sage-Grouse (Centrocercus minimus), a federally threatened species. Signed by the Colorado and Utah State Directors on October 17, 2024, the ROD is effective immediately. It amends 11 existing RMPs across 19 Colorado counties and 2 Utah counties, covering approximately 2.18 million acres of BLM surface land and 2.85 million acres of federal mineral estate. The selected alternative (a clarified Alternative F) focuses conservation on occupied and unoccupied habitat, closes low-potential fluid mineral leasing areas, and designates three new Areas of Critical Environmental Concern and one Backcountry Conservation Area.12
