The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is preparing an Environmental Assessment for a temporary variance request by Pacific Gas and Electric Company from Article 402 flow requirements for the Haas-Kings Hydroelectric Project (No. 1988) on the North Fork Kings River in Fresno County, California. PG&E seeks to eliminate 15 cfs supplemental flow releases from January 6 through May 31, 2025, to dewater the Kings River tunnel and penstock for turbine shut-off valve replacement and testing. PG&E states natural flows will remain in Dinkey Creek and that the 25 cfs minimum in the North Fork Kings River will be maintained. The EA is targeted for issuance by February 28, 2025.12
