The National Railroad Passenger Corporation's Request To Amend Its Positive Train Control Safety Plan and Positive Train Control System

The Federal Highway Administration, with TxDOT as project sponsor, has issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS for the I-69 Connector in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, covering Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties. The project purpose, range of alternatives, and environmental impacts are yet to be defined through scoping. Public scoping meetings are scheduled for January 21 and 23, 2025, with written comments due February 7, 2025. Nineteen federal, state, and tribal entities have been invited as cooperating agencies. A combined FEIS and Record of Decision is anticipated in Summer 2027.

FHWA, on behalf of TxDOT, is issuing a Notice of Intent to prepare an EIS for the I-69 Connector Project, a proposed approximately 25-mile highway on new location connecting I-69C/US 281 to I-69E/US 77 in Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties, Texas. The EIS will analyze four build alternatives (A through D) plus a no-build alternative, all carried forward from a prior Route Feasibility Study. Key issues include impacts to historic properties, environmental justice communities, threatened and endangered species, and floodplains. Public scoping meetings are scheduled for January 2025, written comments are due February 7, 2025, and a combined FEIS/ROD is anticipated in Summer 2027.
