FERC issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment for the Isabella Hydroelectric Project (No. 8377), a capacity amendment filed by Isabella Partners on February 20, 2024. The project is on the Kern River at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Isabella Dam in Kern County, California. Isabella Partners proposes to add a new 5-MW generating unit (Unit 4) in a new concrete structure adjacent to the existing powerhouse, raising total installed capacity from 12.8 MW to 17.8 MW. No changes to water releases to the Kern River are proposed. The EA is scheduled for completion by June 9, 2025, followed by a 30-day public comment period.12
