FERC staff issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the relicense of the 0.50-megawatt Janesville Hydroelectric Project No. 2347, operated by Midwest Hydro, LLC on the Rock River near Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin. Midwest Hydro filed the relicense application on August 30, 2022. Staff determined, based on the record including comments on the December 4, 2024 REA notice, that licensing the project does not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment, making an EA rather than an EIS appropriate. The EA is targeted for February 2026, with public comments due March 2026.12
