The Bureau of Land Management Oregon/Washington State Director has released the Proposed Lakeview Resource Management Plan Amendment and Final EIS for the Lakeview Field Office, covering approximately 3.2 million acres in Lake and Harney counties, Oregon. The action responds to a 2010 Settlement Agreement requiring BLM to address wilderness characteristics, OHV use, and livestock grazing. The EIS analyzes six action alternatives plus No Action; the preferred action is Alternative F, which would designate 42,547 acres as Wilderness Study Areas, prioritize wilderness protections on 373,132 additional acres, and apply OHV restrictions consistent with Alternative D. A 30-day protest period begins upon EPA publication of the Notice of Availability.12
