The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is issuing a Notice of Intent to prepare a Tiered Environmental Impact Statement (TEIS) for long-term sediment management of the federal navigation channel at the confluence of the lower Snake and Clearwater Rivers in Washington and Idaho. The TEIS tiers from the 2014 Lower Snake River Programmatic Sediment Management Plan FEIS and will evaluate alternatives drawn from eight previously identified sediment management measures over a 50-year planning horizon. Scoping comments from agencies, tribes, and local governments are due July 8, 2024. A draft TEIS is expected in August 2025 and a final TEIS in February 2026.
