The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a Finding of No Significant Impact and Environmental Assessment for three exemptions requested by Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company from NRC regulations governing the NAC-UMS Universal Storage System at Maine Yankee's Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation. The exemptions, all previously approved on multiple prior occasions, allow Maine Yankee to deviate from: the 25-day canister maximum time in transfer cask requirement, the comprehensive ISFSI training program requirement, and the 0.5 coefficient of friction requirement on the ISFSI pad surface. Maine Yankee needs the exemptions to register its sixty casks under Amendment No. 9 to Certificate of Compliance No. 1015. The NRC concluded that no significant environmental impact results from granting these exemptions.1
