Notice of Availability of a Joint Record of Decision for US Wind Inc.'s Proposed Maryland Offshore Wind Project

BOEM and NMFS issued a joint Record of Decision on the final EIS for US Wind Inc.'s Maryland Offshore Wind Project, approving construction and operation of a wind energy facility on OCS lease area OCS-A 0490, located 10.1 statute miles off the Maryland coast. DOI selected Alternative B, reducing the turbine count from 121 to 114 wind turbine generators, with onshore cable infrastructure landing in Sussex County, Delaware. NMFS adopted the EIS to support its decision on Incidental Take Regulations and a Letter of Authorization under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will issue a separate ROD under its own permit authorities.

Notice of Availability of a Final Environmental Impact Statement for US Wind Inc.'s Proposed Wind Energy Facility Offshore Maryland

BOEM has released the Final Environmental Impact Statement for US Wind Inc.'s Maryland Offshore Wind Project, a proposed offshore wind energy facility on the Outer Continental Shelf ten miles off the Maryland coast. The project would include up to 121 wind turbine generators, up to four offshore substations, one offshore export cable route, and one meteorological tower under Renewable Energy Lease OCS-A 0490. Onshore components include a cable landfall at 3Rs beach in Delaware and an inshore cable route through Indian River Bay connecting to a substation in Dagsboro, Delaware. The FEIS analyzes five alternatives (four action alternatives plus no action) and will inform BOEM's decision to approve, approve with modifications, or disapprove the COP.
