DHS has released a Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed resumption of the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program along the entire southern border of the United States, as directed by Executive Order 14165. The PEA analyzes two alternatives: resuming MPP and a No Action alternative. DHS concludes that no significant adverse environmental impact is anticipated, provided routine best management practices are followed. Individual operational activities such as new temporary facility construction will still require project-specific review. The public comment period closes May 27, 2025.12
