The Bureau of Land Management has released a Draft EIS for the Mojave Precious Metals Exploration Drilling Project in west-central Inyo County, California, approximately 3.4 miles east of Keeler. Applicant Mojave Precious Metal Inc. proposes to modify an existing approved plan of operations to drill about 120 holes at up to 30 locations targeting gold mineralization, disturbing roughly 13 acres and using 2.9 million gallons of water over about 10 months. The EIS analyzes four alternatives including No Action. BLM identifies the Proposed Action as its preferred alternative. The Final EIS is expected in September 2025 with a Record of Decision in November 2025. Comments are due within 45 days of EPA's Federal Register NOA publication.12
