The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment for a proposed commercial dredging operation at the Morgan Falls Hydroelectric Project (No. 2237) on the Chattahoochee River in Cobb and Fulton counties, Georgia. Georgia Power Company, on behalf of River Sand Incorporated, applied on August 1, 2025 for non-project use of project lands and waters to remove a minimum of 12,000 cubic yards of sediment annually from a 1.4-acre area within the project boundary. The project occupies federal lands administered by the National Park Service. Commission staff plans to issue the EA by February 27, 2026.12
