The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Director has released a Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the Newcastle Field Office and Nebraska planning area, covering approximately 287,900 acres of surface public lands and 1,738,900 acres of Federal mineral estate in Wyoming, plus roughly 5,100 acres of surface and 223,900 acres of mineral estate in Nebraska. The planning area spans Crook, Weston, and Niobrara Counties in Wyoming and all Nebraska counties. Four alternatives were analyzed, with Alternative D (Balance Resource Protection and Use) identified as preferred. A 90-day public comment period is open, and ACEC comments are due by February 13, 2025.12
