The Bureau of Indian Affairs published this NOI on July 8, 2024, to prepare an EIS for the Nisqually Indian Tribe's proposed fee-to-trust acquisition of approximately 74.2 acres in the City of Lacey, Thurston County, Washington (tax parcels 11810101100 and 11810101102), upon which the Tribe would construct the Quiemuth Casino-Resort, including an event/multi-purpose center and cultural center/museum. The BIA must also make a Secretarial Determination under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Alternatives under consideration include a reduced-intensity casino and an alternate non-gaming use. The EIS scoping comment period closes 30 days after publication.
