The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is making available a draft Environmental Assessment and draft Habitat Conservation Plan submitted by Pacific Gas and Electric for a 30-year incidental take permit covering the valley elderberry longhorn beetle across approximately 477,646 acres in 12 California counties. The EA analyzes two alternatives: the proposed action (permit issuance) and no action. Four other alternatives were eliminated from detailed study. The plan covers PG&E operations, maintenance, and minor new construction on gas and electric transmission and distribution facilities. Public comments are due August 9, 2024.
