The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), with the Department of Energy Loan Programs Office as a cooperating agency, issued a final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on May 30, 2025, for the Palisades Nuclear Plant Reauthorization of Power Operations. The EA evaluated NRC actions including an exemption from 10 CFR 50.82(a)(2), a license transfer from Holtec Decommissioning International to Palisades Energy, LLC, and license amendments to allow the single pressurized-water reactor in Covert Township, Michigan to resume power operations through March 24, 2031. DOE LPO's action is a loan guarantee to support refueling and restart. The NRC found all environmental impacts not significant across all resource areas, and no EIS is required.1
