The NRC has issued Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-58 to Vistra Operations Company, LLC for Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, a Mark 3 boiling water reactor on Lake Erie in Lake County, Ohio, approximately 35 miles northeast of Cleveland. The renewed license authorizes operation at up to 3,758 megawatts thermal. The NRC also issued a Record of Decision dated July 7, 2025, supported by the final supplemental EIS (NUREG-1437, Supplement 61, April 2025), which concluded that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal are not so great that preserving the license renewal option for energy planning decisionmakers would be unreasonable.

The NRC has issued the final Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-1437, Supplement 61, Second Renewal) evaluating subsequent license renewal of Facility Operating License No. NPF-58 for Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, owned by Vistra Operations Company, LLC. The plant is located approximately 35 miles northeast of Cleveland, Ohio. The EIS analyzes 20 additional years of operation beyond the current license term, considering a no-action alternative and reasonable replacement power alternatives. The NRC staff concluded that the adverse environmental impacts are not so great that preserving the renewal option for energy-planning decision-makers would be unreasonable.
