Pine Prairie Energy Center, LLC; Notice of Availability of the Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Pine Prairie Energy Center Phase IV Expansion Project

FERC has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for Pine Prairie Energy Center, LLC's Phase IV Expansion Project at an existing natural gas storage facility in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana (Docket No. CP25-533-000). The project proposes a new storage cavern (Cavern No. 6), 0.16 miles of interconnecting pipelines, new compression and dehydration equipment, and about 2.4 miles of 30-inch header loop pipeline, with a target total storage capacity of 87.2 billion cubic feet. The EA concludes the project would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment. Comments are due by February 23, 2026.

FERC has issued a Notice of Schedule for preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Pine Prairie Energy Center Phase IV Expansion Project in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. Pine Prairie Energy Center, LLC filed an application on August 8, 2025 for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to construct a new natural gas storage cavern, 2.4 miles of 30-inch header loop pipeline, a 19,000 horsepower compressor unit, and associated facilities, amending total certificated capacity to 87.2 Bcf. The EA is scheduled for issuance on January 23, 2026, with a 30-day public comment period and a federal authorization decision deadline of April 23, 2026.
