The Bureau of Land Management Nevada State Office published a combined Notice of Intent and Notice of Realty Action on June 28, 2024, initiating scoping for a Resource Management Plan Amendment and associated Environmental Assessment to allow a non-competitive direct sale of 248.74 acres of public land in Nye County, Nevada to Foreland Refining Corporation. Foreland operates the Eagle Springs Refinery on a portion of the parcel under an existing right-of-way grant and seeks fee title to protect existing infrastructure and allow refinery expansion. The parcel is not currently identified for disposal in the 1997 Tonopah RMP, requiring an amendment before any sale can proceed. The scoping comment period closes August 12, 2024.
