The Bureau of Land Management has released a Draft Resource Management Plan Amendment and Environmental Impact Statement for the Purple Sage Energy Center Project (formerly the Golden Currant Solar Project), a proposed utility-scale solar photovoltaic facility with battery storage proposed by Noble Solar, LLC on approximately 4,456 acres of BLM-managed public land in the Pahrump Valley, Clark County, Nevada. The EIS analyzes three alternatives including the No Action Alternative and the BLM-preferred Resources Integration Alternative, which sets a 20 percent threshold for intensive disturbance construction methods. Key resource concerns include Mojave desert tortoise, over-allocated groundwater, Pahrump Valley buckwheat, and paleontological resources. A 90-day public comment period is open, with public meetings scheduled for January 2025.12
