The NRC issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for an exemption request by Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, allowing Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS) Units 1 and 2 to load four MPC-68M canisters with continuous basket shims (CBS) in the HI-STORM 100 Cask System at its ISFSI beginning June 2024, despite those canisters not complying with Certificate of Compliance No. 1014, Amendment No. 8, Revision No. 1. The NRC found no significant radiological or non-radiological environmental impacts, concluding the CBS variant basket design change does not materially differ from previously assessed impacts, and that the no-action alternative would pose undue health and safety risks.
