The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is preparing an Environmental Assessment for American Climate Partners' proposed surrender of the exemption for the Rapidan Mill Hydroelectric Project No. 8402, located on the Rapidan River in Orange and Culpeper counties, Virginia. The exemptee proposes to remove turbine equipment to end generation with no ground disturbance and no physical changes to project features; the dam would remain. After Commission jurisdiction ends, the dam may be removed in collaboration with federal and state resource agencies. The EA is targeted for completion by April 1, 2025, followed by a 30-day public comment period.12
