The Bureau of Land Management Oregon/Washington State Director issued this Notice of Intent to amend the Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan (2005) and prepare an Environmental Assessment for a Recreation and Public Purposes Act conveyance of 541.5 acres of BLM-administered land within the Steamboat Rock Special Recreation Management Area to the City of Redmond, Oregon. The conveyance would allow expansion of the Redmond Wastewater Pollution Control Facility. Three preliminary alternatives are under consideration, including No Action, the Proposed Action (conveyance with trail access changes), and a third alternative that would replace the 5 miles of trail affected. The scoping comment period closes October 18, 2024.12
