The Bureau of Land Management announces the availability of the Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan for the Rio Puerco Field Office, signed December 23, 2024, and effective immediately. The plan replaces the 1986 RMP (amended 1992) and governs approximately 731,600 acres of surface estate and 3.6 million acres of subsurface mineral estate in Bernalillo, Cibola, McKinley, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia counties in central and northwestern New Mexico. It addresses land-tenure adjustments, recreation, grazing, renewable energy, mineral resources, and tribal coordination. The Proposed RMP was carried forward with minor modifications after resolution of 24 protest letters.12
