NMFS issued ESA Permit 20571-2R to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on March 25, 2024, authorizing take of threatened Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon, California Central Valley steelhead, and Southern DPS North American green sturgeon for research and enhancement purposes in the San Joaquin River Basin, California. The permit supports one Hatchery and Genetic Management Plan under the San Joaquin River Restoration Program's Salmon Conservation and Research Facility, aimed at reintroducing spring-run Chinook salmon to the San Joaquin River. A Final EA and FONSI were completed; no public comments were received on the Draft EA.
