FERC has issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment for the relicense of the 1.5-megawatt Saxon Falls Hydroelectric Project (No. 2610), owned by Northern States Power Company. The project sits on the Montreal River in Gogebic County, Michigan and Iron County, Wisconsin. Commission staff determined, based on the record including comments on the October 2024 REA Notice, that licensing the project does not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the human environment, warranting an EA rather than a full EIS. The EA is targeted for issuance by December 23, 2025.123
