The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for a Tennessee Valley Authority exemption request at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, in Hamilton County, Tennessee. TVA sought relief from the 10 CFR 37.11(c)(2) requirement to install a locked door or gate with a monitored alarm at the access control points for the old steam generator storage facilities. The NRC concluded that the exemption causes no significant environmental impacts because the storage structures are robust concrete-panel vaults accessible only via heavy rigging equipment, and no construction, facility modification, or change in effluents is involved. An EIS is not required.
