NRCS North Dakota announces its intent to prepare an EIS for the Shortfoot Creek Watershed, located in Sargent and Richland Counties, ND, and Marshall and Roberts Counties, SD. The watershed generates $677,800 in average annual flood damages and contributes significant phosphorus and nitrogen loads to the Red River Basin and ultimately Lake Winnipeg. Two alternatives will be evaluated: no action, and construction of Shortfoot Creek Site 7, a multipurpose dry dam with constructed wetlands, creek restoration, and a 50-year conservation easement covering 363 acres. USACE and USFWS are cooperating agencies. Comments are due August 11, 2025, and the DEIS is expected roughly six months after this NOI.12
