The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) application (Project No. 2426-239) seeking a temporary variance from Article 52 of its State Water Project license. DWR requests Commission approval to increase water deliveries from Pyramid Lake to Lake Piru via middle Piru Creek from 3,150 acre-feet per year to up to 25,000 acre-feet per year during November 1 through end-of-February each water year, from WY 2025-2026 through WY 2029-2030. The project occupies National Forest Service land managed by the Angeles and Los Padres National Forests in San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties, California. FERC staff plans to issue the EA by December 15, 2025.12
